Landlord and Tenant Matters

A Residential Tenancy is an arrangement where a tenant pays a landlord a regular (usually monthly) amount of money in exchange for living in a residential property. Although residential tenancies seem simple on paper, they are highly regulated and are subject to specialized rules. Failure to follow these rules can create major problems for the parties.

Landlord and Tenant Matters

Residential tenancies in Ontario are governed by the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) and overseen by the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB). Any disputes between landlords and tenants must be addressed through the LTB. Once application materials are received. the LTB will schedule a hearing to judge and resolve the dispute. The LTB has strict procedural rules that must be followed before any judgment can result; a skilled legal professional can help you meet all the requirements.
